Club Notes - April 25th 2011

club-notessm“Town’s” never say die attitude was very much to the fore last week when they secured maximum points by defeating Enniskillen Rangers (2-1) and Ballinamallard United Reserves (4-1). On last Tuesday evening they ‘visited’ Enniskillen Rangers whose anti-football and negative tactics were only undone by a late Gary Beckett goal (his second of the game). On Saturday afternoon last at Lakeland Forum “Town” played 70 minutes with 10 players and produced a scintillating performance to defeat the Ferney Park based side. Goals from Frank Wallace (2), Gary Beckett and Malcolm Crawford maintained their hopes of regaining the Mercer League title.

“Town” Reserves made the short journey to play Enniskillen Santos Reserves and were reliant on a Christopher Stapleton goal to share the spoils with their already relegated opponents.

Irvinestown Wanderers Reserves conceded home advantage against “Town” Colts on last Friday evening when a Pauric Beacom hat-trick paved the way for a 6-2 victory for Daniel McIntyre’s charges at Lakeland Forum. The Colts’ other goalscorers were Sean Gallinagh, Francis Hynes (direct from a corner-kick again) and Paul Cassidy who fulfilled a lifetime’s ambition of scoring for a “Town” side!

“Town“ Under-15‘s travelled back in time to play Orchard Farm at Orchard Park, Tempo on last Friday evening and crashed to a 5-1 defeat - a scoreline which certainly flattered the homesters. Ryan Farry scored the Under-15s’ only goal.

On the following morning “Town” Under-13s travelled to Michael Connolly Park, Kesh to play NFC Kesh who, aided and abetted by 2 successful penalty kicks, emerged 4-2 victors after a keenly contested game. Jordan Breen and Dara Carty were the Under-13s’ goalscorers.

Forthcoming Brendan Keogh Youth League fixtures are as follows: Friday 29th April - Under-16s v Ardstraw (home) and Monday 2nd May - Under-14s v Fivemiletown United (away).
