Club Notes - April 3rd 2011

club-notessm“Town” travelled to Mitchell Park, Castlederg on Saturday afternoon last to play Churchtown who remain firmly in the relegation zone following a 4-0 defeat. Goals from Gary Beckett (pen), Mark Beckett, David Callaghan and Frank Wallace helped stretch “Town’s” unbeaten run in the Mercer League to eleven games.

“Town” Reserves travelled to Killen Village to play Killen Rangers Reserves whose 3-0 victory has virtually ended the reigning Reserve Division 1 Champions’ aspirations of a third successive title.

“Town” Colts hosted Lisbellaw United III at Lakeland Form where goals from Sean Gallinagh (4), Paul Fingleton (2), Daniel Keane and Mark McBrien helped them to a comfortable 8-4 victory which has considerably eased their relegation worries.

A Lee Brennan hat-trick paved the way for “Town“ Under-15‘s deserved home 4-2 victory at Lakeland Forum over NFC Kesh on the opening day of the Brendan Keogh Youth League season. Debutant Tom McHugh was the Under-15s’ other goalscorer.

Forty-eight hours later a depleted Under-16s had home advantage against Lisnaskea Rovers at Lakeland Forum. Richard Johnston gave the Under-16s an early lead but their opponents scored twice thereafter and it took a fine individual goal from Patrick Reihill to earn his side a share of the spoils.

On the following morning “Town” Under-13s played host to Lisnaskea Rovers and goals from Aaron Nolan (2), Jordan Breen, Dara Carty and Pauric Kettyles helped them to a resounding 5-1 victory.

“Town” Under-14s entertained Killen Rangers at Lakeland Forum on Monday evening last when goals from Nathan Lindsay and Thomas Owens helped them to overturn a 1-0 interval deficit and emerge deserved winners by the narrowest of margins.

Forthcoming Brendan Keogh Youth League fixtures are as follows: Wednesday 6th April - Under-15s v Orchard Farm (away); Friday 8th April - Under-16s v Mountjoy United (away); Saturday 9th April - Under-13s v Lisbellaw United (away) and Monday 11th April - Under-14s v NFC Kesh (away).

“Town” Under-10s travelled to Castle Park Centre, Lisnaskea on last Saturday to take part in the Finals Day of the Cross Border Under-10 Futsal For Fun Competition which was organised by FAI Development Officer Tom Mohan. The Under-10s’ opponents on the day were Ballyjamesduff, Monaghan United and Ballinamallard United and it is pleasing to note that the Under-10s were convincing winners of all their games. The Under-10s’ panel was as follows: Luke Flanagan, Mark Landers, Connor Love, Darragh McBrien, Declan McGovern, Tommy Murphy, Frank Rafferty, Jake Smith, Michael Stewart and Glen Treacy.

Coaching for Underage Teams and Primary School Children takes place at prearranged times and venues. Coaching at Erne Integrated College now takes place on the Grass Pitch and all Children are advised to bring boots and shin guards.

Last Man Standing….. and now we are down to just five players - Paul Cassidy, Terry Maguire, Seamus O’Dare, Tracy O’Donnell and Mark Smith. There are still six weeks left of the season to see if we can get an outright winner. All of the remaining players have selected most of the top teams and they are asked to ensure that their selections for Week 7 are in by 11.00pm next Friday.

“Town” Youth held a very successful Night At The Races in the Lower Atrium Bar, Blake’s of the Hollow on last Saturday. The support of all Race Sponsors, Horse Owners and those who attended the event is much appreciated.
