Club Notes - March 29 2011

club-notessmAll at the Club were saddened at the death on last Wednesday morning of Margaretta (Rita) Hanna - mother of Club stalwart Martin and grandmother of First Team player Ryan.. The Club extends its deepest sympathy to them, her sons Brian, Peter, Gerard, Patrick, Paul, Vincent, Terry, Raymond and David, her daughters Marie, Pauline and Moira and large family circle.

As a mark of respect a minutes silence was observed before “Town‘s” home Mulhern Cup Round 3 Tie against holders Strathroy Harps on Saturday afternoon last. The Division 2 pacesetters provided a formidable challenge but goals from David Callaghan, Matthew McAuley and Frank Wallace helped ensure a deserved 3-2 victory and passage into the Quarter-Finals where Tummery Athletic await.

 “Town” Reserves travelled to Byrne Park, Lisnarick to play Lisnarick Reserves in a Reihill Cup Round 2 Tie and duly progressed to the Quarter-Finals courtesy of an emphatic 7-1 win. Goals from Paddy McGarrity (3), Barry Beacom, Barry McIntyre, Shane Mulligan and Ben Swift maintained the Reserves’ aspirations of a record tenth Cup success.

 The Brendan Keogh Youth League gets under way this evening with the opening series of fixtures in the Under-15 League. “Town” Under-15s begin their campaign with a home fixture against NFC Kesh which will be played at Lakeland Forum - Kick-Off: 7.00pm. Forty-eight hour later “Town” Under-16s will entertain Lisnaskea Rovers at the same venue - Kick-Off: 7.00pm. On the following morning at 10.30am “Town” Under-13s will have home advantage against Lisnaskea Rovers at Lakeland Form which will host “Town” Under-14s’ clash with Killen Rangers on Monday 4th April.

Coaching for Underage Teams and Primary School Children takes place at the usual prearranged times and venues. Coaching at Erne Integrated College has switched to the Grass Pitch and all Children are advised to bring boots and shin guards.

The remaining ten players in the Last Man Standing Competition are asked to ensure that their selections for Week 6 are in by 11.00pm next Friday.

“Town” Youth will be holding Day At The Races in the Lower Atrium Bar, Blake’s of the Hollow on this coming Saturday (2nd April) with the first Race getting under way at 7.00pm (approx). Everyone is welcome and a good day’s craic is guaranteed!
