Town’s reputation is no longer limited to local areas!
Read the Daily Mirror’s exclusive interview with Town manager Rory Judge.
JOB: Housing Officer.
CLUBS PLAYED FOR: Enniskillen Town United, Glenavon and I can’t forget St Barnabas in New York!
CLUBS MANAGED: Enniskillen Town United.
HONOURS IN CAREER:
Two Reihill Cups, four Kennedy Cups, five Mercer League titles, five Mulhern Cups and two Junior Cups.
BEST PLAYER EVER PLAYED WITH:
I didn’t play with him in too many games but Raymond McCoy at Glenavon was a very special player. Locally it would be Ossie Corrigan or Gary Beckett. They are two huge talents who could so whatever they liked with a football.
BEST PLAYER EVER PLAYED AGAINST:
From a local perspective, Tony Roofe was a tough, solid defender and a gentleman into the bargain.
CLUB YOU SUPPORT: I am a Leeds United fan.
FAVOURITE FOOTBALLER: Unquestionably, Paul McGrath because most current players are a crowd of overpaid cissies.
FAVOURITE MUSIC: I have a varied taste in music – Guns N Roses and U2 to Counting Crows and The Saw Doctors.
FAVOURITE TV PROGRAMME: Two And A Half Men when Charlie Sheen was in it.
IDEAL WAG: Heidi Klum (now that Seal has dumped her!).
SOMETHING NOT MANY PEOPLE KNOW ABOUT ME: I once shared digs with Shay Given and Kenny Samson.
WHEN DID YOU TAKE OVER AS MANAGER OF ENNISKILLEN TOWN UNITED? In 2008.
BEST MOMENT AT CLUB: Captaining the club to the Junior Cup in 2007 was a day I will never forget.
WORST MOMENT AT CLUB: Any time a player gets a bad injury. It makes you question yourself for pushing them too hard.
WHICH TEAM HAVE BEEN OR DO YOU EXPECT TO BE YOUR TOUGHEST OPPONENTS THIS SEASON?
Tummery are always tough opponents but after the poor start we made every opponent will present us with difficulties.
WHAT WOULD REPRESENT A GOOD SEASON FOR YOU THIS SEASON?
We need to win some silverware this season and the league is always a priority.
WHICH OPPOSING PLAYERS HAVE MOST IMPRESSED YOU?
The goalkeeper at Dergview was quite impressive a few weeks back, making a string of good saves.
WHAT OTHER MANAGERS DO YOU RESPECT MOST IN LOCAL FOOTBALL?
All of them. Anybody who gives up their time in the less glamorous surrounds of local football deserves respect.
MOST TALENTED PLAYER AT YOUR CLUB?
Although (with two bent legs firmly planted) he’s in the winter of his career, Gary Beckett, left, is the most talented player in the league, let along our club. He’s a class act.
BEST YOUNG PLAYER AT CLUB?
Frank Wallace. He has been courted by a number of Championship clubs. He’s very quick, with an eye for a goal and was voted the Fermanagh and Western League’s young player of the year last season.
UNSUNG HERO AT CLUB?
Mally Crawford, below. He’s easily one of the best defenders in the league, if not the best, and goes about his business with little fuss and plenty of skill.
BEST TRAINER AT CLUB?
Gary Beckett. He’s the first to arrive at training and loves beating the younger guys (which is everybody) at the fitness drills.
SLOWEST PLAYER AT CLUB?
By no means slow (that would be Skino’s honour), Mark ‘Suarez’ Beckett is the worst trainer at the club. He has made shin splints fashionable again!
BIGGEST POSER AT CLUB?
Paul Crane. Some of his outfits are designed for guys a lot younger and he always seems to have a hat to match.
HARDEST PLAYER AT CLUB?
Matt McAuley would tackle a combine harvester. He’s a player who gives it but can also take it
THE Big Issue THIS WEEK… Should Kenny Dalglish be under pressure at Liverpool?
No, Dalglish shouldn’t be under any pressure whatsoever. The Suarez incident may not have done him any favours but the players will love him more for backing him, if that’s possible. Liverpool will be challengers once he gets rid of the driftwood he inherited from other managers.
